Chiang Mai is messy…in a good way. Despite being an ancient city, there is an ever present fertility that expresses itself in weedy plants, rotting garbage, and thatched roofs in need of overhaul. While temples may feel like fortresses, the cityscape surrounding them can be surprisingly temporary and changeable. And despite the presence of modernity, there’s still plenty of dirt alleyways, rickety carts, open tubs of dishwater, and severed pig heads at the outdoor market.

On my scooter one dusky day, I came upon a conglomeration of junk, plant life, and artifacts that would make any installation artist jealous. The late afternoon light hit upon it in such a way that it absolutely glowed. Unexpected sublime.

Every day a different version!
