At Janine’s, Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA

How interesting to be a traveler. It’s hard not to compare.

In Asia, everything feels fertile and chaotic. In Europe, timeless. Old. And then there’s America (which sounds better, but less accurate, than saying the United States), which plays the role of an ex with whom I have a cordial relationship.

In my sketch, I peer into a cabinet full of things that are not mine. I am a guest in my home country, and in particular on this beautiful island where I once belonged.

Next stop: Thailand.

The Blog here.

Project Description:
For more than three months I traveled-Thailand, the US, England, Portugal, and Spain. Drawing and painting is a powerful way to capture a specific place and time. Here are 20 works documenting the epic journey. They are not pictures of the most beautiful sights, or historical treasures, but rather a documentation of where I slept along the way. They represent a jumping off point for remembrance.

In the Mirror series here Drawings and paintings done on location whenever I am away from home. An artist/traveler’s visual diary.
