AT Nicoline’s, Saint Pere de Ribes, Spain
I was enveloped in yellow and blue. We curled around the edge of an amber colored coastline, looking down at an unfathomable expanse of blue Mediterranean. Blonde haired Nicoline sat behind the wheel wearing one of her signature teal outfits and looking like a movie star in one of those 70’s European films.
I had arrived in Spain.
Installed in my very own cabana, the main house was but a few steps away. A handsome wall surrounded the small property allowing us to skinny dip in the swimming pool amidst potted plants galore. We dined in simple elegance and walked through the seaside town of Sitges with its sloping sidewalks and lanes too narrow for modern cars.
I wanted to wear a dress every day.

Next stop: Valencia, Spain!

Project Description:
For more than three months I traveled-Thailand, the US, England, Portugal, and Spain. Drawing and painting is a powerful way to capture a specific place and time. Here are 20 works documenting the epic journey. They are not pictures of the most beautiful sights, or historical treasures, but rather a documentation of where I slept along the way. They represent a jumping off point for remembrance.
In the Mirror series here. Drawings and paintings done on location whenever I am away from home. An artist/traveler’s visual diary.
