At Carlos and Kim’s, Valencia, Spain
Pre-dawn, and the house is asleep. I snuck out in the hall to sketch before setting out to explore the old city. Street lamps were still lit and it was very quiet but for a few intoxicated young people heading home to bed. A few street sweepers (actual street sweepers, with brooms!), witnessed my passage.
As the sky turned from charcoal black to violet, the bakery shutters opened exuding smells of fresh coffee and chocolate croissants.
The company was good, the city welcoming. I’ll be back.
Next stop: Cadaquez, Spain and all things Salvador Dali

Project Description:
For more than three months I traveled-Thailand, the US, England, Portugal, and Spain. Drawing and painting is a powerful way to capture a specific place and time. Here are 20 works documenting the epic journey. They are not pictures of the most beautiful sights, or historical treasures, but rather a documentation of where I slept along the way. They represent a jumping off point for remembrance.
In the Mirror series here. Drawings and paintings done on location whenever I am away from home. An artist/traveler’s visual diary.
